My Steelers proved me right last week against Jayden Daniels and the Commandos. Mike Tomlin and his staff drew up, and their players executed, a superb defensive scheme to minimize Daniel’s magical feet and reduce his options passing the ball. Pittsburgh held the soon-to-be ROY to a 50% completion rate, 202 passing yards, and zero TDs...
Their defensive plan is workable only if your personnel mirrors that of the Steelers--meaning two quick edge rushers requiring at least one extra blocker, a stout DL and a secondary able to consistently play effective man coverage.
Compared to the Black & Gold, the Bald Birds run the most man in the league, give up 42 yards less passing yardage per game and rank fifth surrendering only 100.7 Rushing yards per game--they also have Saquon Barkley, who will work to keep Daniels and company off the field. Therein lies the key to this match-up.
This is one of those divisional games between two quality teams, familiar with each other, in which the defenses sometimes play an outsized role in a close win. Even with an elite Philly defense, Daniels has the surrounding talent to score and score often--and so does Jalen Hurts.
Philly will pull away late--lay the Points--just barely Over the Total.
