THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
Dallas Cowboys (-14) vs. Tennessee Titans 42 [O]
In a normal week, the Spread in this matchup would most likely be no more than 6-7 points but this is not a normal NFL regular season week.
Week 17 of 2022, and most likely for years to come, will feature at least one or two games in which the “better’ team—or team with a better record takes the field with more playoff implications than a team potentially limping into the post–season.
Can't wait until the owners finally squeeze that 18 game season out of the next CBA, can you?
Simply Dallas--with two Eagles losses, and two Cowboys victories to end the regular season—can still win the NFC East, but that is as likely as yours truly getting hired as a talk show host.
If it plays out like the records and pundits are predicting, the Lone Stars will play the 4th seed NFC South Champion Buccaneers in the Wild Card round. Yes it will be on the road, and I guess you could—but I won’t—say Tampa Bay is a dangerous team, and Tom Brady will show up.
Truth is, the Matey’s stink and reside in football’s 2nd worst division. Dallas should dominate an injury plagued and sub-standard offensive line with their pass rush. The Cowboys secondary is more talented than Tampa’s receiving corps.
Tennessee, on the other hand could lose this game 82-0 and will still make the playoffs with a Week Eighteen win against the Jaguars in Florida. They’re four best defensemen won’t be playing. The Titans starting QB and monster running back Derrick Henry, along with their best O-Lineman, and anyone decent, will be skipping this game.
I’m betting Jerrah knows his Cowboys could potentially make a deep playoff run; he’ll tell head coach McCarthy to get a big lead, then sit the first stringers down.
Mike Vrabel’s boys have lost five straight, six of their last eight—and, play in the NFL’s worst division. Tennessee has yet to beat a team with a winning record.
While knowing this game is a throwaway, no coach wants to limp into the playoffs having lost six in a row…I’ll take the 14 points and the Titans to cover because Dallas will allow a late ten points.
The smart bet for this baby is no bet. Don't be a sucker…The Over might be a decent play.
Cowboys 27
Titans 17
